This is it!!! Tonight is the Awana Clubs Awards Ceremony in the Sanctuary! 😊

Clubbers and Leaders: be in uniform in the Sanctuary on your designated pew at 5:45pm. The slide show begins at 5:50pm. The Awards Ceremony begins at 6:00pm. Puggles and Cubbies will sit with their parents AFTER they have received their awards. Sparks and T&Ters will return to the pews with their Leaders after they have received their awards.

The Ice Cream Celebration in the Gathering Room will follow the Awards Ceremony and is for everyone! Leaders, please bring a container of ice cream to share. Take it to the Gathering Room BEFORE you go to the Sanctuary.

LeadersTHANK YOU for investing in each child’s eternal story! We LOVE you! 😊

Parents: THANK YOU for bringing your children to Awana Clubs at Judson and for helping them memorize God’s Word!

EVERYTHING your children have done in Awana Clubs this year will be recognized and rewarded, however, the eternal blessings of hiding God’s Word in their hearts far outweigh anything we can give as an award. 🥇🎉

3 things to remember for the Awards Ceremony and Ice Cream Celebration this Wednesday, April 25th:

  1. All Leaders, please take your ice cream (no nuts) to the Gathering Room before 5:45 pm.
  2. ALL Clubbers and Leaders, please be in uniform in your designated pew at 5:45 pm.
  3. Sparks, if you are missing any jewels, badges, or pins, see Sparks Director Linda Harlan in the foyer at the NEXT STEPS desk between 5:15-5:45 pm.

Cubbie Parents: Remember to pick up your Cubbie in the Gym tonight at 7:25pm

Warning: LONG, but IMPORTANT post ahead… 🙂

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFO for this Wednesday, April 18:

  1. Check-in is the NORMAL time and place for ALL FOUR clubs.
  2. Pick-up is the NORMAL time and place for PugglesSparks, and T&T.
  3. Pick-up for Cubbies ONLY will be in the Gym at 7:25pm AFTER you pick up your other clubbers at 7:15pm.

Puggle and Cubbie Leaders and Parents:

  • Puggles and Cubbies will have an End of Year Party in their classrooms with juice boxes and Oreo cookies. Please send a special snack if your child cannot have these 2 things.
  • Puggles do not jump on the Inflatables. They stay in their room.
  • Cubbies need their vest and handbook for Handbook Time.
  • Cubbies will jump on the Inflatables in the Gym from 7:00-7:25pm. Leaders will take them to the Gym at 6:55.
  • Cubbies need SOCKS for the Inflatables! Their vest will be put in their bag with their handbook before jumping.
  • Parents, pick up Cubbies ONLY in the Gym by 7:25pm AFTER you pick up your other clubbers at 7:15pm from the Awana Game Room and/or the Puggles room.

Sparks and T&T Leaders and Parents:

  • THIS IS IT! The Awana Store is the first reward for the huge efforts the Sparks and T&T clubbers have made all year long! There are 144 Sparks and T&T clubbers ready to shop with their earned Awana Bucks! The Sparks and T&T clubbers will jump on the Inflatables in the Gym when it is not their turn to shop at the Awana Store in the Gathering Room.
  • Sparks and T&Ters DO NOT need their uniform, Bible, or handbook, but they DO need socks for the Inflatables.
  • Leaders, please be ready in the Store, Inflatables, or Runners to help:
    • Leaders for the Store: report to the Gathering Room by 5:35 for instructions in the Store.
    • Leaders for the Inflatables report to the Gym by 5:40 to get instructions for the Inflatables.
    • Leaders as Runners: be in the Soul Summit room by 5:40 to begin escorting clubbers to the Gym.
    • If you are unsure where to be, ask your Director and/or see Kim McIntyre in the Gathering Room at 5:30.
  • Sparks and T&Ters: Be on time at 5:45pm in the Soul Summit room 3105 for the night’s instructions!
  • Parents who are not Leaders are welcome to help your child shop, but it is not necessary because we will have Leaders who are designated to help the children shop. If you do want to help them shop, please wait in the church foyer until your child is in line. The first group lines up to shop at 5:50 with a new group lining up every 10 minutes until the last group lines up at 6:50. Then all Sparks and T&Ters are taken to the Awana Game Room downstairs for pick up at 7:15. (If you are a Leader with a Spark or T&Ter, we will have a helper to help your child shop if they need it.)

It’s the crazy night of the year: Double Bubble Bucks Night is here on April 11th! On this last night for sections for Sparks and T&T, all points earned count DOUBLE for the Awana STORE NEXT WEEK on April 18th and EVERYONE  gets Dubble Bubble Gum galore!

Cubbies say Bear Hug 26 and Puggles have a regular night on Wednesday.

Student Leaders: please go to the goodbye party for Pastor Justin and Rachel Beasley in Youth this Wednesday and we will see you next Wednesday for Awana STORE Night!

All Leaders: RSVP to your Director by this Wednesday for the Leader Luncheon on Sunday, April 22nd, so we will have enough yummy food for you and your family!

It’s hard to believe that we only have 5 more nights left this Awana Clubs year! Remember that we do not have a spring break because Metro and Williamson do not line up this year. Here is the schedule for this week and all of April:

  • Inflatables for T&T, Sparks, and Cubbies in the Gym

The Grand Prix on Friday night was a wonderful night of fun with a huge turnout of families and a ton of incredibly decorated and super fast cars! Here is the trophy winners list:

  • T&T Design Winners: 1st Bradford V, 2nd Ella R, 3rd Eliahna W
  • Sparks Speed Winners: 1st Deen G, 2nd Ellis H, 3rd Carter N
  • T&T Speed Winners: 1st Jonathan K, 2nd Alana C, 3rd Fiona D

NEWS FLASH: We have only 6 more nights for Sparks and T&Ters to complete their book and any extra credit sections before Store Night on April 18th!

The 2018 Cubbie and Puggle Grand Prix is this Wednesday, February 28th! 🙂

Cubbie Parents, on Wednesday night we need you to take your Cubbie to the Gathering Room, instead of the usual drop-off in the Awana Game Room, and please stay with your Cubbie during the races – unless you serve in another area at church during this time. This is an “all hands on deck” type of night! We will have Oreo cookies, juice boxes, and water for the Cubbies and you in the Gathering Room. (Please bring a special snack with you if your Cubbie has food allergies.)

Puggle Parents, please do not stay in your child’s room for their race. It just works better that way! We will have plenty of Matchbox type cars if you need one for their race. Puggles will have Oreo cookies also in their room. (Please send a labeled special snack if your Puggle has food allergies.)

*Note for Sparks and T&Ters: we have just a few Grand Prix car kits left. If you still need one, please reply back to this blog note. Please remember to let us know if you purchased a car elsewhere so we can add you to the heats. 🙂

Grand Prix 2018 will be here soon: on Wednesday, Feb. 28, for Cubbies and Puggles and on FRIDAY, March 2 for Sparks and T&Ters! Grand Prix is a fun, family event – so come join the festivities and cheer your clubber on!

Now is the time for Cubbies, Sparks, and T&Ters to select a pinewood derby car shape to race. (See the bottom of this post for the car shapes available this year.*) 

Car kits are $7 each (family maximum of $20) and include 1 shaped wooden car, 4 wheels, 4 axles, and a set of stick-on weights. Your CubbieSpark, and T&T child(ren) can paint and decorate the cars however they want to, with or without your help! Let the creativity flow!

You pay when you get a car. Please bring cash (exact change is most helpful) or a check made out to Judson Baptist with Awana and your child(ren)’s name on the “for” line.

We will have a station to purchase the cars in the lower level hallway outside the Awana Game Room on Wednesdays at 7:00pm beginning this Wednesday, January 24.

There are 120 car kits (in a variety of car styles) and they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. After the 120 car kits are gone, stores like Hobby Lobby usually have them for sale. IF you purchase a car elsewhere, PLEASE let us know so that we can add your child’s name to the list to include the car in the heats.

GRAND PRIX for Puggles and Cubbies is on Wednesday, February 28th:

  • Puggles DO NOT buy a car kit, but bring from home a Matchbox or Hot Wheels type car to race in their classroom on a racetrack. All Puggles receive a MVP ribbon, which, of course, stands for Most Valuable Puggle!
  • Cubbies will have the Grand Prix in the Gathering Room and YOU stay with them during the races. Each Cubbie who participates will receive a medal ribbon. (Bear Hug verses are NOT said this night.)
  • Cookies and juice boxes/waters will be provided after the races for Cubbies in the Gathering Room and for Puggles in their classroom.

GRAND PRIX for Sparks and T&T is on FRIDAY, March 2nd:

  • Sparks and T&Ters cars will compete against other cars in their club for the fastest car AND the best in design. Trophies will be given at the end of the races for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in both Speed and Design for each club for a total of 12 trophies!
  • A complementary pizza dinner will be served at 5:30pm and the races start at 6:00pm.
  • Leaders: please wear your club shirt.
  • All cars will be weighed at the Check In Station and must be 5 ounces or less to be eligible to compete. Any car that has won a trophy for Speed or Design at the Grand Prix in past years is ineligible.

NEXT Wednesday, November 15th, is Thankfulness Night in Awana Clubs! Please bring boxed or canned food items to show your thankfulness for what is in your pantry and to share with those in need this Thanksgiving. The food collected will be given that night to our Global Focus partner, Front Porch Ministries, who have especially requested mac-n-cheese, canned corn, canned green beans, and/or peanut butter as greatly needed items, but they are thankful for any items!

Puggles and Cubbies: please put your food items in the labeled box at the Preschool desk downstairs where you check in at the computer.

Sparks and T&Ters: show your food items to your Room Secretary to receive the 50 bonus points for participating in the theme night, then bring your food to the Soul Summit Room to put in the labeled box.

STUDENT LEADERS: TONIGHT is your week to serve! Since there is not a youth service because of WIPEOUT last night, invite a Judson youth to come with you to see what we do in Awana for a hands on experience in serving the littlest ones!

(NOTE: Awana Clubs will not meet on November 22nd for Thanksgiving Break.)
